If you can't make it...

Due to the large number of people on the waiting list, BarCampSaskatoon has opened up 20 more spots for the 2008 edition. There are now 120 "tickets". If you have signed up and can not make it, please email camp@barcampsaskatoon.org so we can let more people attend. With only ten "tickets" left, it will be full and we want to make sure that almost everyone can make it.

ADD thru iChat

I am sitting here in the "Industry Canada" room watching an iChat conversation with Pete Quily, who is an ADD coach in Vancouver. I have used iChat many times, with friends around the world. But this is the first time that I have seen iChat used at a confernence and it works great! For future BarCamps, I think it would be a great idea to do more of this. Imagine having speakers from around the world or sharing your BarCamp with other cities holding them at the same time.

Social Media in Political Practice

Presentation by Wayne Chu, the new media director at the Saskatchewan Liberal Party


New media campaigns are no longer "new media campaigns." The Liberal party has developed a unified communications strategy, so brochures, billboards and TV all come together with the web, YouTube, Facebook, etc. By bringing new media people into the "upper echelons" of the party, new technologies can better communicate the messages. Many campaigns in the past have not worked like this.

Welcome to BarCamp

BarCampSaskatoon is underway. To kick things off this morning, there have been three session so far. One on iPhones, which was great (I helped present), one was a well-atteneded Pitch n Play and the third was Old-time apprenticeship meets 21st Century technology. All three sessions were great. There is one more set this morning, and then three sets this afternoon.
